Fun Facts

  • The microwave was invented when a scientist walked in front of a magnetron and the chocolate bar in his pocket melted, so he added some stuff and started using it to make popcorn. Be sure to pay attention to what’s going on around you. You never know when you’ll stumble on the next great invention!
  • Sindy gets most of her ideas from things around her, questions without answers, combining things, and especially from her dreams at night. She likes to say she’s never bored because she always has a story or idea rolling around in her head. 🙂
  • The idea for Kyle the Zombie came from the questions “Do Halloween monsters really need to be so gross? What if a zombie didn’t eat brains?” So, if you don’t like something, ask yourself “What if it was different?” Maybe you’ll solve a big problem in our world, or at least create a fun story.
  • The two men in charge of looking for King Tut’s tomb had been searching for 5 years. One day one of them said they should quit, but the other said they should try one more spot – right where they had been camping. Can you guess where they found the tomb? Yep! Right under their tents! Isn’t that funny?
  • Scottish shortbread (a kind of sugar cookie) originally came from Italy. In the 1800s it was brought to London by an Italian chef who put an image a thistle on it, and it’s been “Scottish” ever since.
